Committee Views Resuscitators Committee Heads Discuss Year Plans
Orone Chamber of Commerce leaders met at Founds to review reports and set the year lineup. Travel Trailer tickets are on sale with boxes to be distributed area wide. The Colt Derby on June 18 was discussed noting a smaller field may require an extra classified race. Entertainment for the grandstand between races was requested.

Seven 4-H Clubs Formed At Orono Meeting
Nearly 160 Durham county 4-H club members gathered at Clarke township hall in Orono for the 1960 4-H organization meeting. Seven clubs were formed, officers elected, and project materials distributed. The dairy calf club led in interest, prompting junior and senior divisions meeting together under 4-H Leaders Association president Francis Jose. Junior officers include Larry Welsh president and Rex Rickard among others. senior officers include Lorne Tink president and Pat Knox as vice-president. Beef calf club, led by Bev Gray, totals 21 members with Ricky Rickard as president. A new automotive and machinery safety 4-H club, first of its kind in Canada, drew 15 members with A Oliver Dalrymple noting highway safety aims and a potential program with safety officers and engineers. Marie Kent heads the new group with Harold Yellowlees as vice-president and Bill Tamblyn as secretary-treasurer. The tractor maintenance club will be led by Lloyd Kellogg with Ralph Gray providing much instruction.

Orono Players Dress in 1922 Styles for May Show
The Orono Players will stage The Torch Bearers on May 27 and 28 in authentic 1920s dress to recreate the period atmosphere. The troupe has received $15 from the athletic association to rent stage lighting, with wardrobe led by Mrs. G M Linton and rehearsals underway four times weekly. George Collins has joined the cast replacing R Whincup, and Merrill Graham is also added as the group nears curtain time.

Spring Drive for Relief Clothing Promotes Care Across Oceans
A parental parable notes God’s presence in darkness as a metaphor for relief aid. The United Church of Canada highlights over 100 tons of clothing shipped in 1959 and launches a Spring Community Drive for relief garments. Donors are urged to bring underwear, adult and children’s clothing, nappies, knitted items, quilts, blankets, towels, soap, and even old nylons for Korean widows. Contributions to the Sunday School Auditorium of the United Church by May 10 before 2 PM.

Girl Guide Meeting Plans and Progress Report
