Hector Stewart Bowen died April 12 1961 at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital aged about seventy. Born in Clarke Township he farmed near Orono for 34 years and served overseas in World War I. He married Sadie Beninger in 1916 and leaves two children Ernest of Orono and Enid Campbell of Nateley England, plus four grandchildren. Interment at Orono Cemetery with Rev Basil Long officiating. Pallbearers named and funeral well attended.

John Stone of Clarke Township received a framed certificate for long and meritorious service with Waterloo Manufacturing at a one day farm equipment show in Waterloo Ontario. N W Lockie presented the award as 30 equipment pieces and a 41 year old steam engine led a parade to a banquet. The engine will become a museum piece at the Waterloo plant.
