Cobourg council hears that the Counties Home for the Aged may stay in Cobourg despite a building committee’s recommendation. County solicitor H R S Ryan says the Counties would likely add to the Home and would pay up to 9000 dollars for sewer work for the new Administration Building, with Factory Creek sewer estimates near 18000 dollars.

Plans Set for Clarke Township Field Day
Clarke Township teachers met April 6 at Browggs School and approved minutes. Plans for the annual field day in Kendal on June 8 were made with 8:45 a.m. pupil in line. Male teachers will prepare the field and urban schools will form teams from grades five through eight with at least two girls per team.

Theme address marks third occasion at church convention
Sanderson delivers his third Theme address as special church choir music accompanies Miss Beth Thavell of Oshawa in two solos. After the Installation of the new Executive by Mr. Eldon Guthrie of Kingston, a Candle Lighting re dedication led by Margaret Wyman. Conven tion arrangements were by Y P A Presbytery officers Valena Copping Kirby and Doreen Aldred Crone. Guests billeted for the noon meal and Orono W A served lunch after the session. A Book Display added to the convention’s interest.

Trout Season Opens Early Saturday Morning

Alma Faminta Stainton died in Civic Hospital Peterborough on April 11 1986 aged 78 born to Albert and Elizabeth Tamblyn of Orono married William J Stainton of Enniskillen on December 25 1908 they farmed there and later retired in Orono in 1989 her husband predeceased her in 1954 she was a member of Orono United Church funeral held April 14 officiated by Rev John Kitchen and Rev J Shorten interment in Lang Memorial Vault surviving two sons Milton and Charles two daughters Gladys and Bernice thirteen grandchildren a sister and three brothers and many nieces and nephews pallbearers were grandsons and other relatives.
