Easter Sunday at Orono United Church Draws Large Congregation
Easter service at the Orono United Church drew a capacity crowd. Floral tributes honored Mrs. Stainton and Mr. Hallowell, and the choir performed Why Seek Ye the Living. Twelve youth and fourteen adults joined the church, with a transfer and a profession of faith. The Rev John Kitchen spoke on What Easter has given to us, followed by an Easter music program led by W E C Worka with guest artist Ross Metcalf.

Harry F. Fraser aged 69 died February 25 1957 after years of suffering. Born in Michigan he lived in Madoc Teeswater Long Sault Orono farming until 1943 then moved to Orono. Married 1912 to Elizabeth Brown he leaves two daughters Marion Webb and Jessie Bowmanville five grandchildren. Funeral in Orono United Church February 28 conducted by Rev John Kitchen. Interment in Orono Cemetery.

Trout Season Opens Wednesday May First With Club Lands
Fishermen in the district await the opening of the trout season scheduled for Wednesday May 1. The west stream is again leased for the major part by the New Castle Sportsman Club and the Oshawa Club. The Oshawa Club will open its sanctuary to its members this year.

The Orono Figure Skating Club held its annual meeting in Oddfellows Hall with about fifteen mothers attending. Treasurer reported receipts over $1000 and $160 on hand, with costumes valued around $500. Over sixty children skated at the Orono rink.
