Clarke Township Votes May 6 Debenture for Public School Area
Clarke Township Council set a May 6 vote on issuing a 75 000 debenture for two new public school classrooms in the former Newtonville and 4d area. Obituary of Norman E. Winter Oshawa Masons Leader
Norman E. Winter 52 of Central Park Blvd Oshawa died April 8 at Oshawa General Hospital after a month of illness. He worked in the GM costs department and was active in Simcoe Street United Church Masonic bodies Parkwood Lodge and Oshawa clubs. Survived by wife Ellen, son Larry, mother, six siblings and four brothers. Funeral at McIntosh Oshawa April 10 with interment at Orono Cemetery and a prior masonic memorial service.

The review notes 1165 communicable diseases with 559 measles, 927 home visits, no diphtheria or typhoid deaths, rabies cases rising late in the year, 265 investigations, and widespread vaccination efforts. Tuberculosis saw 303 on register and 311 at year end, with mass X rays totaling 830. polio immunizations reached thousands across age groups. venereal disease cases included syphilis and a gonorrhea case. public health nurses conducted school medical exams for thousands of children and supervised growth in school health services.
