Bogus Blakelocks Offered for Sale in New York
In New York on May 28 investigators announced that several spurious Blakelock landscapes were circulating among local art dealers. Mrs. Adama, guardian for painter Ralph Blakelock, reported the forgeries to District Attorney Swann. Three canvases were opened for examination as Blakelock's genuineness was assessed by ADA Dooling and officials, with more than thirty alleged forgeries claimed to have been produced recently in the West and sold to eastern patrons.
