Potatoes Planted at Historic Track for Red Cross Fund
In Goshen on June 17 thousands of John R. Gentry potato hills were planted inside the Historic Track gates under James M. Bradley. Secretary Rensselaer Weston organized the effort to raise Red Cross funds, aiming for substantial revenue after having already anticipated proceeds of about $4,000 from the race meet. Weston accompanied Miss Adele Schoonmaker as she observed the project and noted he has sold many potatoes at $1 each to support the Red Cross. The crop is tended to the highest cultivation standards, and the famedhorse John R. Gentry, now 80, appears daily when weather permits.
