A 20 year old colored man named John Garrett drowned while bathing in Roseton canal behind the Rose Kiln on Monday night. His body was recovered by passersby this morning. The coroner certified death as accidental drowning. Garrett had worked as a mould pusher at Rose Brick. No funds for burial. Health Officer Dr. Percy Banks arranged interment. Garrett had no local relatives. mother is believed in North Carolina.
