James Alonso Clark, longtime head of Brink Clark and successors, plans retirement after a career starting as a clerk in 1862 with Scott Brothers. The firm evolved through Scott Brothers, Val Brink Clark, and Brink Clark, shaping Middletown’s business district as the city grew from a village to a thriving center. Clark, born March 28, 1946, held many civic roles and foresees a period of rest, leaving a legacy in local commerce and social institutions. William Doyle, 36, of Otisville, pleaded guilty in polled court to public intoxication after a Monhagen avenue incident. He received a $3 fine. earlier that day he posted $5 for next morning’s appearance. He claimed dentist anesthesia contributed to his condition.

The Elks defeated the Waalkiila Monday night in the last of the series of pinochle tournaments. Eight tables played late into the night as refreshments were served. final score 82 to 78 after leading by four points from the tenth inning.

George Mart and his counsel Charles H. Sizgs appeared before Judge John P. Grant in Delhi Monday morning to face two forgery charges. A clemency appeal was urged citing prior good character. Willam B Cole a former Middletown resident died in Fon du Lac Wisconsin after a short pneumonia illness. He was born September 19 1846 in Florida New York and built a banking and hatter business there becoming Cole Savings Bank president for 30 years. He married Anna Billa Hurd in 1874 and left two sons William L and Hubert H in Fon du Lac. He is survived by his wife two sons and a sister Mrs William B Bennett of Middletown. Funeral details not announced.
The death of Thomas Boyd occurred Tuesday at Thrall Hospital after a few weeks illness. Boyd, longtime foreman at the O W milk station in Weshaeren, resided at 52 Sprague Avenue. The funeral for Rev Warren Hathaway of Blooming Grove was held at Blooming Grove Church, interment at Washington Tile cemetery. Hathaway, born in Garatogs county New York in 1828, studied at Oberlin, ordained, left five children surviving, and was praised as a man of tender feelings who loved his people. Also noted is Dr Mary Krom returning from a Western trip with four months away visiting Clinton Iowa Monica Minnesota and Miss Mabel Walliker of Monics Wisconsin.
