Orange Police Mounted Unit to Train for Fall Deployment
The Orange Police Department began training for its first mounted unit. In September four officers and their horses will attend a 40 hour five day course at the California Mounted Officers Association school to complete training and deploy soon after. They are training monthly with the Orange County Regional Mounted Enforcement Unit as preparation. Sgt. David Natividad worked with his white quarter horse Maximus during a recent training session.

Villa Park to Focus Budget on Infrastructure Projects

Lemon Street parking lot to close for Metrolink structure
The 172 space Lemon Street lot at Lemon Street and Chapman Avenue will close July 24 to make way for a Metrolink parking structure. Groundbreaking is July 26, with 26.3 million construction to take 18 to 20 months. Chapman University offers Palm Avenue lot alternatives and detours to the West Chapman Depot. Tow trucks will remove remaining vehicles, and a two level below ground three level above structure will provide 500 spaces for buses and trains while 111 spaces are for public use. The Old Towne valet service is suspended and slated to relaunch July 24 with a $6 fee.
