Orange officials reveal a $20.4 million parking structure planned for 130 N. Lemon St. at the Old Towne Orange Santa Fe Depot. City Council approved the project after years since 2009. a fall start date and final scheduling are to be worked out with multiple agencies involved.
The five level facility will host 611 spaces with 500 reserved for transit users. A transit based access plan may open spots to the public during off peak times. Roof solar canopies will power lighting while a bike plaza and multiple pedestrian routes are added.
The city outlined a timeline from 2009 through 2018 for a parking structure project. Key steps include feasibility studies, county design agreement, a single structure plan, public outreach, and design review. Funding approved in 2014, final documents in 2016, bids in 2016, with completion targeted in 2018 after a multi year hold.
Hart Park will undergo spring renovations on the band shell adding a larger dance floor and a brick pathway linking it to existing sidewalks. The $50,000 project will triple the dance floor size with about 3,500 new bricks. Legacy brick sales raised $10,000 through Jan. 4. Housing the 2016 concert series, the city seeks demo packages from bands by Feb. 1 for summer shows 7 to 8 30 p.m. in Orange California.
TRI Pointe Homes wins approval to develop 12 acre Riverdale Elementary site in Anaheim Hills into two story houses from 2,450 to 2,829 square feet after the Orange Unified School District sold the land for 17.9 million in 2014. Mayor Tom Tait dissented over the plan citing traffic and education-use concerns.
