Cripps Family Informs Brother Wounded in Action
Acton residents Mr and Mrs E Cripps learn their son Pte Henry Cripps has been wounded in action in Belgium. He suffered scalp lacerations and shoulder wounds after enlisting in the Lincoln and Welland Regiment about a year ago and serving overseas for two months. He previously worked with Ajax Engineers of Acton. He has two brothers and several siblings in Ontario.

Wounded in Action CPL Robert Rayner in Italy
Cpl. Robert Rayner son of Mr and Mrs Orval Rayner has been wounded in Italy. No details on the injury have been reported. He served nearly five years overseas with the Princess Louise Dragoon Guards and married an Englishwoman last year before enlisting with the 48th Highlanders. His father a WWI and WWII veteran, and brothers Leonard and Thomas Rayner are also serving in Italy.

Miss Ellen McKay died suddenly on Wednesday October 4 after a heart attack while returning home from Main Street. She was active in the United Church and its Women’s Missionary Society and Association. Funeral held Friday at two o’clock. Rev. R C Todd officiated. Interment in Providence Cemetery. Surviving are two sisters and two brothers with many relatives and friends attending from Georgetown and nearby towns.
