Tenants and Owners Plan Sports Council Banquet in Georgetown
A preliminary meeting in Georgetown set the stage for a town sports council to support youth baseball hockey tennis and other sports. A father and son banquet is planned to launch the organization with guest speakers from the city and a hockey program for town lads. A committee led by Mervyn Robb was formed to arrange the event with a further meeting planned to fix the date. The National Film Board sponsored by the Federation of Agriculture screened Home to the Land The Business of Farming and Northwest by Air at Ashgrove on Friday evening Readings by Mrs Cromar piano duets by Lorna and Glenna Russell and community singing led by Mrs H Bird with Mr John Bird at the piano followed by lunch and social hour The next showing is set for Oct 19 and Rally Sunday was observed at the church service with a large crowd and child choir support

The Ballinafad Farm Forum met Monday night at Lloyd Marshals home with new officers to be chosen at Prank Smith’s. Miss B Hills traveled to visit friends at Flesher’s. R W Shortill of Weston Ontario visited family this weekend. The WMS Helpers met at the Cedarvale School with Mrs Norman Sin Prednesday as associate secretary. Mrs Hou spoke on Come, Taurry and Go. Mrs H Hilts and Mrs Jos. led devotions. Two papers by Miss B Hilts and Mrs Stan G Sinclair. Tea was served to 37 ladies. Autumn Mk offering of the WMS planned for Sun evening Oct 26 with Mrs 4 of Torooto as guest.
