Death of Rev. Dr Henry Dickie noted in Toronto area obituary
Former minister Rev Dr Henry Dickie 81 died May 12 at 32 Bernard Ave after months of ill health. A Presbyterian and United Church leader, he served in the Maritimes Ontario Winnipeg and Toronto areas, studied worldwide, was moderator of synods, and survived by widow Helen Gordon Dickie two sons Wilfred C Detroit and George RCNVR and daughter Margaret.

May Meeting of Countess Chapter LO.DE War Work Fund
Mrs. L. J. Bell presided at the Countess of Strathmore LO.DE May meeting in the Legion Hall. Reports were given on Theatre night proceeds of 34.30 for war work and several donations to endowment and relief funds. A Northen Ontario school clothing bale is prepared and supplies were sent to a minesweeper crew. An Opportunity Sale on June 3 and a Mile-of-Pennies on June 24 were planned to fund further war efforts. Hostesses were Mrs. C. V. Williams and Mrs. Wallace Thompean.

In Georgetown and surrounding district the Sixth Victory Loan raised 417 850 with Georgetown contributing 277 960 and Esquesing 140 000. AB Millar, 3 years in navy, reported missing after serving on HMLCS Atha Baskan and participating in the Scharnhorst sinking. The Victory Loan committee, 40 members led by L EF Pleck and W F Bradley, praised for strong support and execution.

Delegates Attend Aeronautical Convention in Toronto
Georgetown sent two representatives to the Aeronautical Convention at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto. Mr. S. W. Orr of the Town Council and Mr. A R Speight of the Georgetown Board of Trade attended along with 300 delegates from across Canada. Speight argued that nearby Malton reduces Georgetown interest in a feeder-line plan that would require each town to fund its own airport and insurance costs.
