Georgetown High School Cadets Hold Annual Inspection
Georgetown High School cadets conducted their annual inspection on the campus Friday amid fitful weather. Col C G M L Grier and Major Read led the event with numerous officers observing, a Bren gun display, an anti gas drill, and a battle drill section. The day ended with a town parade and a race event at the Arena featuring Milton H S cadets.

Women's Institute Elects Officers at Georgetown Meeting
The Georgetown Women's Institute held its annual meeting on May 3 at Mrs. Dan Campbell's home. New officers were elected led by President Mrs. W. G. McDowell and Secretary Treasurer Mrs. H. Bailey. Delegates to the District Annual were chosen, and resignation of Secretary Mrs. A. Lewis noted. Civilian bomb casualties in England for February reached 2,673, the highest since May 1941.

Georgetown Citizens Boys Band Holds First Drill
The Georgetown Citizens Boys Band held a march drill at the park last Thursday night. Afterward the group performed at the Victory Loan Theatre night in Gregory Theatre, with praise from listening locals. Bandmaster Joe Carter leads the new formation. The president ex Mayor Joseph Gibbons offers encouragement. Dr and Mrs Clifford Reid, secretary treasurer, hosted the boys after drill and J J Gibbons and R H Thompson donated $5 each to buy music.

After the Victory Loan Parade in Brampton Lt Col L H Bertram M C ED presented Sgt A C Herbert with the Efficiency Decoration Medal with clasp and star in Brampton. Herbert has 38 years service including 5 overseas with Argyle and Sutherland and 33 years in band roles with Lorne Rifles and Lorne Scots. He lives in Georgetown and has a son Norman now Chief Petty Officer in the RCNVR.

Mrs R Kerr Norvel received word that her son Pte Aubrey Kerr was wounded in action on May 3 while serving with the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment. He had been in one year earlier and trained at Toronto Brantford and Camp Borden before going overseas in June 1988.

Victory Loan Rally Films Shown At Georgetown

New Missionaries Appointed to China from Emmanuel College
