A anonymous Georgetown couple described as Mr and Mrs John Smith live on about 25 a week. They budget cash and credit, buy across Georgetown merchants, and value bargains and quality while keeping credit modest. Their spending supports local shops and keeps town commerce moving.
The Georgetown Choral Society opened with O Canada and closed with Rule Britannia at Knox Presbyterian Church. Director W E Capps introduced pieces from Verdi to Gilbert and Sullivan while soloists Miss Greta Capps and Mr Thos Warnes performed. The Georgetown String Ensemble joined, and officers were elected at a post concert luncheon.
The afternoon included a visit to the University Conservatories guided by Miss Taylor with Botany G.ELS. students observing the displays and facilities.
The parents and friends of Georgetown Public School are invited to an exhibition of school work on Tuesday evening May 21 at 7.00 o clock. Teachers will be in their classrooms early to meet the parents followed by a further demonstration.
Plans near completion for the second annual Parish Show at Hawthorne Lodge Brampton under Halton and Peel Jersey Clubs. Four challenge trophies will be awarded including Royal Bank Trophy held by R J Graham and Son Georgetown as Premier Breeder and Blain Trophy for Grand Champion Female. Competition looks strong with bets over 100 head from Halton and Peel Jerseys and high RO P records suggesting a bigger, better event. Show starts May 24 at 1 30 p m local time.
Prize winners from Georgetown and district public schools announced for the annual Essay and Poster Contest. Winners listed after Friday evening at the Halton County Convention held in the United Church Georgetown.
Ellen Viola Dickey, sister of E R Magloughlen of Georgetown, died in Stayner Ontario after working for The Noisy River Telephone Co. She was active in the Lady Orange Benevolent Association and Jubilee Presbyterian Church. Funeral held there. Survived by parents, three brothers, two sisters. Also reports two weddings in Georgetown area with local families and a CBC program about Canada’s royal visit.

Co Company of the Lorne Scots held a route march in town last Thursday evening. A concentrated drill is held each Thursday night in preparation for the annual camp at Niagara on the Lake from July 1 to July 13. Indications are the regiment will be at full strength.
Two or three area students are expected to compete at this month's COSS.A track and field meet in St Catharines as coaches gauge potential events. The article notes no official announcement yet on which students will participate.
Halton Plowmen's Association, led by President John McCormack, announces the Junior Farmer Match for Friday May 31 on A S Mahon's farm near Campbellville. Open to Halton youths under 20, it adds a tractor class alongside walking plow events with township prize lists and separate senior junior divisions. Coaches include O J McLeod, Harry Picket, Claude Picket, and John Lister. Ag Representative J E Whitelock at Milton urged to contact for entrants.
Miss Sybil Bennett of Dale and Bennett spoke to Anglican women and friends on Matters of Law Pertaining to Women. She discussed a widow’s rights on intestacy and noted laws fade beside community needs amid a social hour after the talk.
