Annual Report of Peel Halton Children's Aid Society 1940
The Peel and Halton Counties Children's Aid Society held its annual meeting at St Paul's Milton on April 24 1940. President J J Jamieson led proceedings with speeches by G F Thompson and guests from Toronto and Hamilton. The report covers 180 cases under Children Protection, 73 new cases, 11 reopened, involving 381 children, noting interagency cooperation and wartime welfare efforts.

Fair Board Plans Revised Prize List for 1940 Exhibition

Georgetown Council Sets 1940 Tax Rate After Deliberation
Georgetown council held a special meeting Tuesday to fix the 1940 tax rate and review the year budget focusing on current and arrears taxes street maintenance and bond payments. They discussed reductions but warned a lower rate might create a deficit and approved a 46 mill rate after a 1 mill deduction with several other motions including water service for a farm and a railway crossing on Glen Road.

Reverend Ross-K Cameron Installed as Dovercourt Pastor
Rev. Ross K Cameron, a former Georgetown boy, was inducted as minister of Dovercourt Road Presbyterian in Toronto. The ceremony included remarks by Rev. J C Innis and Rev. R C McDermid, with a reception to follow at Dovercourt Church. Cameron, a University of Toronto and Knox College graduate, previously led Rogers Memorial in Toronto and served in Edmonton and Streetsville. His parents lived in Georgetown where his father was Knox pastor.

Warnes wins lyric tenor at Peel Musical Festival
On Wednesday night Georgetown’s T. Warnes placed first in the lyric tenor class performing Schubert’s Serenade. Friday night saw 8.8% rated entries with The Grace Male Choir winning the cup for highest points, while Miss Mary Feller showed creditable effort under teacher Mr. Capps.
