Council Confident in Recreation Director Amid Talks on GRC Plan
At a Wednesday meeting the Georgetown Council heard a detailed report from the Georgetown Recreation Council on a master plan for sports cultural arts lobbies and media. Don Barrager urged recognition of recreation as a public service and asked for a heated office for the director exclusive use of Teen Town Fall and a master park schedule. The council left the matter to a future session while also approving building by law amendments and the appointment of a new building inspector George Adams.

Town Council increases salaries and amends by law
On Monday June 21 the council raised Assensor J. A. Early salary from £1800 to $2200 yearly. The audit fee for A Lever doubled from $300 to $600. First and second readings approved an amendment to the Recreational by law to hire a directory at a salary up to $1600. Signage planned warns drivers and the track at the park is closed to cars and motorcycles. Town Solicitor K. M. Lang to report on the John St subway for potential railway action. Two additional water meters were purchased.

Local youth dies in backyard shooting accident
John Gordon McNally 19 died instantly when a shotgun discharged behind his Brampton area home while he hunted groundhogs. Neighbors called Dr. Brydari the county coroner and Constable Strachy investigated. He lived in Torra Cotta, attended Brampton High, worked at Beaumont Knitting Mill in Glen Williams, and worshiped at Union Presbyterian Church. Survived by his parents, sister Shirley, and brother Gary. Funeral conducted by Rev. J L Self. interment at Glen Williams Cemetery.
