Two Families Homeless After John St Fire Gutting Home
Early Tuesday a fire gutted a two story house at 2 John St KE leaving the Livingstones and the Beaudins homeless. The Livingstones on the ground floor escaped with some possessions while the upper floor residents lost everything. The insured property is owned by R South and G Johnson of Oakville. Fire Chief Irwin Lewis said the blaze was mainly under control by 4:30 a.m. An insurance adjuster estimated the interior damaged about 80 percent. Female Lions Club officers were installed at Stan's Restaurant, including Fred Zorge as president and Stan Wade as 2 year director among other officers and awards. The meeting also recognized long service chevrons for Don Narrager and others. A $1550 payment to Georgetown and District Memorial Hospital was approved.
