The W M S Auxiliary of Georgetown United Church held a joint meeting with the Rosebud Mission Band on Tuesday afternoon June 6. Mrs R H Jones read the program and a Worship Service and Litany of Thankfulness followed. Ann Crabtree spoke on The Second Mile with Dorothy Lane Shirley Dobie and Betty Clark sharing Bible passages. A chorus by all members closed the program and some members packed clothes for the Inttian Missions.

Capt. Jack M. Abbott of the Canadian Paratroop Corps mourns the death of his wife Ruth Lockhart Abbott at St. Catharines General Hospital in her 27th year. Ruth, daughter of MP N J M Lockhart and Mrs Lockhart, was born in St. Catharines and active in Anglican church and youth groups. She lived in St. Catharines most of her life with a period in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia with her husband.

The recital occurred on Thursday evening June 8 in Town Hell Glen Williame with Mgr Walter Carpenter in attendance. Pupils included Marjorie Roe Carl Hill Judith Beaumont Marion Dickie Beasie Bailey Moira Kelly Jimmy Buck Eileen Affen Joan Buck Ruth Presswood Audrey Norton Marion Stamp Norma Modiardo Louise Hilton Louise Robinson and many more. Three two dollar prizes from Credit Valley Bottling Works went to Carl Hill Moira Kelly and Louise Robinson. Judges were Mrs Price and Miss Capps. A twenty dollar silver collection was raised for Soldiers Comforts. Judy Beaumont presented a bouquet to Miss Hepburn.

Miss Mary Elizabeth Grant and Miss Helen Louise Devereaux, both Georgetown High School graduates, received Bachelor of Arts degrees with second class honours from the University of Toronto at last Friday's convocation. Grants majors French and Spanish and plans to attend Ontario College of Education. Devereaux earned a BA in Household Economics.
