Halton Jersey Breeders Stage Annual Picnic
The Halton District Jersey Breeders Club held its first annual picnic and field day at Col. W. G. McKendrick’s estate near Oakville with about 125 attendees. Prof. M. W. Staples spoke, judged two Chestnut Jersey Farm herd classes, and noted the value of neighborly gatherings as Dr. Chas. Cook and Mr. John Pawley also spoke. Judging winners included Mrs. Chas. McKeown and Eddie Robinson, with McKeown winning the open class. The event closed with a tour of the alfalfa dehydration plant on the McKendrick farm.

The body of 22 year old Richard Thompson, son of Mr and Mrs Thompson, Glen Williams, and a bridegroom of two days, was found in a pond near Terra Cotta brickyards on Tuesday afternoon around 2 pm. Chief Inspector and Provincial Constable Oliver were on scene as the family mourns this tragedy.

The Hamilton Conference of the United Church announces changes. Rev. P A Gilbert of Norval United Church transfers to Walton United Church and Rev Charles Cumming of Walton takes the Norval charge. Rev. Charles Jolliffe moves from Churchill Glen Williams and Limehouse to Hannon near Hamilton. Rev. Mr. Bartlett of Hamilton will lead the three charges from July first, with farewell services for Mr Jolliffe coinciding with Churchill’s 101st anniversary.

Norval opens new county boys camp for Upper Canada College
A new county home near Norval south of Georgetown on No. 7 highway opened last weekend for Upper Canada College boys aged eight to fourteen. The rustic cabin will host students and staff, with future bunk houses, a foot bridge, meals, and staff headquarters. Eighteen boys stayed last weekend and another eighteen will visit next weekend as weekly weekend use alternates.
