Anson Thurston Dies in Cobourg After Short Illness
Anson Leroy Thurston, born 1887 in Georgetown, died after a brief illness at 363 John Street Cobourg. Funeral from McClure's Funeral Home to Greenwood Cemetery, with services at the family home. He was a former traveller for B. Dayfoot & Co and trombone player in local bands, survived by his wife Ivy Alfreta Ross and sister Ada Smith.

Samuel McMaster Loses Barn and Livestock
A fire of undetermined origin started in the barn of Samuel McMaster on the 10th east of Thureda about 1:30 am. It destroyed 300 chickens, 10 pigs, hay, and some implements, but neighbors halted spread to the house and saved livestock and gear. It is the first barn fire in the district this spring.

A Milton mixed doubles bowling tournament, postponed from last week, saw Georgetown pairs claim top honors. A Red Cross lawn party and draw near Mrs A W Nixon’s home raised 310 for War Savings Certificates, with over 800 tickets sold and prizes awarded to Bruce Mossop and George Barber.
