Georgetown Boys Band led by Alfred Perrott attended a Sunday service at St John’s United Church and presented a concert after worship. The program featured group selections a Wheeler duet and a flute solo by Peter Glynn with another performance planned for December 28 at 7 30 pm.

Ida Thompson 86 Dies in Toronto After Georgetown Years
Mrs Ida Thompson aunt of Fred and Harvey Nurse and sister in law of Mrs George Nurse died at 1 Oakview Avenue Toronto on Saturday December 7 in her eighty six year. Survived by son Dr Lloyd Thompson Peterborough and daughters Verna McLellan Dundalk Lola Davidson Dell Irva of Toronto. Funeral at Yorke Chapel Turner Porter on December 10 with interment Erin Cemetery. Pallbearers include nephews Len Hinton Fred Nurse Victor Thompson Lawrence Thompson Norman Orr and George Goheen.

First Baptist Pastor Receives Call to Hanover
Rev. Alfred J. Barker, minister of Georgetown's First Baptist Church for six and a half years, has accepted a new charge at Hanover. A McMaster University graduate, he earned a BA in 1948 and BD in 1951 and studied in England with the Canadian army. Barker joined Georgetown in 1951, was ordained, and soon after became pastor succeeding Rev. Charles R. Gower.

Georgetown elects newcomers and incumbents in municipal vote
In Georgetown on Monday 1627 of 3870 eligible voters cast ballots to elect four council members and two new contenders. John Gunn led with 971 votes, while Garfield McGilvray had 971. Mayor Armstrong and other officials won by acclamation a week earlier. The turnout marked the town's largest ever numerically though percentages varied from year to year.
