The town grew around bran profits and a early steam mill, tannery and distillery as lumber moved via Credit River to Port Credit. It faded after the Grand Trunk line bypassed, leaving dams gone, hotels closed, and stores empty while Burns or Wordsworth might someday praise its beauty.
