A tattered verse contemplates shared mortality and humanity. It argues against judging the poor and urges small acts of charity to ease suffering, noting that time and death level all people and reveal common humanity.
A Milton area incident reports 2 kill when 12 year old Tommy Gemme inadvertently discharged a .22 rifle while playacting with the weapon. Mrs Comber, resident and mill worker, was struck near the right ear and died. Coroner H A McColl ruled the shooting accidental and no inquest was held. Reginald Paul arrived within minutes to witness the scene.
The meeting at Queen's Hill led by convener J D Adams set intermediate and junior group schedules with Elora receiving a bye and Mil ton dropping out. Upcoming matchups include Guelph Brampton Georgetown Bolton and Milton Orangeville with dates in January and February. A Milton resident visits Port Colborne. a Milton woman jostled by a bicycle accident injuring her arm. A rash of break ins targeted a rear door and cash register theft was reported with suspects traced to Guonghe.
Major James H. Pedley M C promoted to lieutenant colonel with effect from March 17 last. He commands the Halton Rifles with companies at Oakville Milton Burlington and Georgetown. Regimental Headquarters at Georgetown. Pedley served in France with the 4th Battalion C E F and later led Milton Company after war. He is a member of Pedley and Stalker. Other changes include Captain J R Peacock promoted to major and Major G Brock Chisholm becoming second in command. Several lieutenants promoted or transferred to the Reserve of Officers and new officers qualified at the Oakville and Milton Infantry School.
A letter dated October 29 1926 expresses gratitude for jars of jelly honey and fruit. It notes the gifts arrived in good condition and praises home canned fruit while mentioning a sick child and appreciation from the writer and colleagues at Georgetown.
The Georgetown Local Center of the W C T U hosts a May event featuring essays and posters on temperance education for youth. Miss Annie Gallagher of Burton is noted for winning third prize in the Third Book Essay Contest. prizes include silver medals and cash awards.
