Parliament Opens for Final Session of Present Parliament

Spectator Ottawa reports that on January 12 the houses of parliament will assemble for what may be the final session of the current parliament. The main issues include a new trade treaty with the United States, the 80 cent wheat guarantee, unemployment insurance plans, and taxation reform as the commission on Dominion provincial relations delivers its report. Halton Exhibitors Prominent at Winter Fairs

Halton exhibitors earned many honours at the Royal and Guelph winter fairs. Campbell’s Command, owned by Grant Campbell of Moffat, won a grand championship at the Chicago International, a notable Canadian achievement. Other winners include Rae Scott of Acton with Berkshire females, and numerous Halton participants in cattle, sheep, and grain divisions.

Remuneration for Councillors By-Law Passed Last Night

Town council approved a by law to pay members of council salaries. The mayor will receive 125.00 dollars per year and other stipends were set for council members as part of the approved remuneration plan.
