Trail Rangers rename group Pathfinders after meeting
The Trail Rangers met Friday evening in the United Church basement with William Korzack giving a talk on teen temptations. The group was renamed Pathfinders and officers for the year were elected: Mentor William Korzack Chief Ranger John Wagstaffe Sub Chief Ranger Raymond Addy Secretary Treasurer George Blyth. No meeting this week due to the Sunday school concert. Santa Claus visits Georgetown on Saturday December 24.

Drew elected Ontario Conservative leader at Toronto convention
Col George Alexander Drew won the Ontario Conservative leadership at the Royal York in Toronto on Friday. He secured 796 of 1272 ballots, far ahead of Earl Lawson with 413, while Wilfrid Heighington and Norman Rawson trailed with 41 and 22 votes. The result united the party under a new era.

Lions Club Movie Draws 700 Cans for Needy

Georgetown High School Board Minutes December Meeting
The Georgetown High School Board held its regular meeting on Monday December 12 with all members present. Minutes were read and confirmed and accounts totaling 214.45 were approved for payment. The board recorded student scholarship winners and agreed to present donated shields at the forthcoming commencement. A Strathcona grant of 15 to and stipulations were noted. Miss Foster will assist Miss Inman who is ill, and secretarial aid was approved for term filing. The meeting adjourned to Friday December 30.

Presentation to W A Wilson by Esquesing Agricultural Society
Esquesing Agricultural Society directors surprised W A Wilson at his home on December 7 presenting a Diploma from the Ontario Department of Agriculture for his services as Secretary and district agricultural contributions. President Thomas Brownridge praised Wilson’s efficient conduct and long service, with Frank Petch noting his courteous work during trying years. The gathering included card games and refreshments ending with Auld Lang Syne.

J Gerald Kelly of Toronto receives appointment to the High Court of Ontario filling the McTague vacancy announced by Prime Minister Mackenzie on December 7.
