Georgetown Unveils New Water System For Long Term Supply
Georgetown opens a new water system with a deep well near Maple Avenue producing 715 gallons per minute. Water is pure and tastes excellent, softer than the Silvercreek surface supply, and will not require chlorination. Tests showed about 5 million gallons pumped into Cedar Vale Creek, with the underground source 64 feet below the surface and still within 29 feet after pumping. Mayor Joseph Gibbons sampled the water. system to be operational by year-end, with potential temporary integration into the present system to ease shortages.

Fire call Tuesday ends with no damage reported
The fire brigade was summoned Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock for a small garage fire behind Licita's Fruit Market. Duke Burrows of Goldham Store staff and Don Barrager spotted the blaze, but resident A Restivo had already doused it with a garden hose before firefighters arrived.

Trucker Injured In Collision On 98th Line
Paul Wagstaffe of Glen Williams sustained serious injuries when his truck collided with a truck driven by Charles Hancock on the 98th Line. He was taken to Guelph General Hospital with a cut tongue, injured hand, and two severed fingers. The Hancock truck was headed toward the Glen. Gordie Hancock, a passenger, and the driver’s son escaped injury.
