Rev. A. L. Howard, ex minister of Knox and Limehouse Presbyterian churches, won the Meaford mayoral by election on Monday. He resigned his council seat to run and defeated his opponent by 300 votes after the previous mayor resigned following a dispute with the local Canadian Legion Branch over Governor General’s visit plans.

Lions Club Fall Fair Concessions and Prize Draw Planned
Georgetown Lions Club will run concessions at this year’s Fall Fair and conduct a prize draw with tickets on sale. Ray Whitmee leads the project. prizes include a $75 doll dressed in $10 bills, two tons of coal, a fishing rod and reel, an electric clock, six months of Roxy theatre tickets, and a cigarette lighter. Proceeds go to the 1950 Stay-at-Home Camp. Draw at 6 p.m. from the Lions Bandstand.
