Town Council Considers 5 Percent Pay Rise for All Workers
At a special council meeting August 15, town employees pressed to raise wages from 88 to 98 cents per hour to match local industry. The 5 percent rise would add 5 cents hourly for workers and cover foreman clerk treasurer and assessor. An 8 percent amendment failed. Mrs Albert Bradley appointed assistant to the clerk at $28 weekly.

Roy Van Dusen Tara Civic Leader Dies
Roy Van Dusen, former Tara Leader publisher who died last week, led Bruce County civic life. He ran the family business from 1927 to 1944, served as reeve of Arran parish from 1938 to 1948, and was warden in 1937. He supported sports, bowled, led the Tara Bowling Club, and was a Mason and United Church member. He married Hazel McGibbon in 1922 and is survived by his brother J R Van Dusen of Tara.
