John Nicholas ONeill one of Georgetown's veteran businessmen died in Toronto on Wednesday August 10 after a stroke. Born July 4 1869 in Port Hope he bought a carriage shop in Alloa Chinguacousy Township in 1800 later expanding to an automobile agency and garage on Main Street Georgetown. He retired in 1947 selling the building to Victor Diggins and leaves a widow a daughter a son and four grandchildren. Funeral was conducted at McClure Funeral Home with interment in Greenwood Cemetery Georgetown.

A Scotch Block native, 73, Robert Sinclair of Acton died suddenly at his Fort Milam home. Born in Scotch Block, he left for the west before 1900 and married in 1905 at Raigy River. Survived by his wife and five sons.

Police Cruiser Damaged in Thursday Rain Collision
During a heavy rainstorm a car traveling toward town on No 7 Highway failed to turn at Wildwood and collided with a provincial police cruiser driven by Constable Jim McNiven. No injuries were reported though both vehicles sustained damage. Constable McNiven, traveling toward Acton, observed the incident and pulled to the roadside.

Third Polio Case Reported Here
The third poliomyelitis case occurred last week when Clifford Kenney of Ballinafad, employed at the Provincial Paper Mill, contracted the disease and was moved to Riverdale Isolation Hospital in Toronto. No paralysis developed and the danger period is seen as over. Mr Kenney expects to return home this week.
