A $100 donation from a garden party at Mr. Lindley Beaumont’s home, hosted by Glenunity Club on August 1, pushes the Herald War Victims Fund toward $1,600. Local youths, including David Williams, Bill Emmerson, and George Farmer, ran a Hydro corner refreshment booth selling treats and lead soldiers to raise about $13.54 for the fund.

Fisher Family Reunion in Esquesing Township
The Fisher siblings and their relatives gathered at Mrs. Hume Currie’s home in Esquesing Township on August 17. Grandfather John Fisher held the Crown deed for Lot 9, Con 5 from 1822. the farm is now George Fisher’s home. Present were Dr John F of Brandon, Dr Peter M of Toronto, Mrs Walter Lawson of Stewarttown, William W, Dr Robert O of Toronto, George A, Thomas J, and Mrs Hume Currie. Nieces Reta Jean Irene Fisher helped with the tea table as the group sang Auld Lang Syne before departing.

Funeral Services Held for 17 Year Old Accident Victim
Accidental death of James Boyle near Norval Station Saturday night led to a large funeral at Holy Cross Church in Georgetown. Boyle, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Boyle, attended Georgetown Public and High Schools and worked at Whiteley-Porritt & Co. Knitting Mills. He is survived by a brother William and sister Kathleen. Interment was in St. Mary's Cemetery Port Credit.

Former C N R Operator Drowns in Muskoka
Charles Shultis a 44 year old telegraph operator formerly based in Georgetown and Tara drowned while swimming a 500 yard channel near Pointe au Baril during a weekend hunting trip with eight club members. His body was recovered after darkness using dragging gear. Survived by Irene Gibson Shultis and three children Elaine Marilyn and Bruce, plus three brothers and three sisters. Interment in Brampton follows services there and in Tara.

Mary E. Duncan Unsworth aged 85 died at her home in Hollywood California on Saturday August 16. She formerly lived in Georgetown Acton and Toronto before moving to California in 1913 with her husband William Bromley Unsworth. Surviving are two sons J Bromley Unsworth of Toronto and W Preston Unsworth of Victoria B C a daughter Mrs Monroe Merrill of Glendale and another daughter Alice J Unsworth of Hollywood Interment followed Monday August 18 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale California

August Meeting of Georgetown Lions Club Report
The George town Lions Club held its August meeting Monday evening at 6 16 pm at the McGibbons House. A salvage campaign report noted good progress and growing momentum with children collecting salvage locally and centralizing it for pickup by the salvage truck. Iron beds from Camp Norval were received and sold in Toronto for 15 dollars.
