Red Cross Plans Aluminum Salvage Drive Next Month
Georgetown Red Cross Society held a meeting at the Public Library to plan an aluminum salvage drive on September 5 and 6. A committee led by LeRoy Dale, George Alcott, and Walter Biehn will oversee the campaign, with school pupils asked to collect discarded aluminum. The drive supports war production and any profits aid Red Cross work. The group also discussed purchasing new sewing machines for Red Cross rooms in the Post Office to replace worn or nonfunctional ones.

Henry Sherman Dies After Brief Illness
Henry J L Sherman, long time Georgetown resident and former Milton photographer, died last Wednesday at age sixty nine. Born in Georgetown he worked with William McKay, ran stores in Georgetown and Acton, and operated a Milton photography studio for thirty years before returning home. Survived by wife Lucy Homan Sherman and three sisters, his funeral was held at his residence and Greenwood Cemetery.

Georgetown children continued their fundraising for British war victims with three Herald Fund donations last week. Four boys ran a bazaar near Alliance Paper Mill on Aug 18 raising 3.68. Beatrice Hilts gave 1.00. Buddy Hardman and Terry Bludd netted 4.16 near the C N R station. The fund total reached 2506.19.
