What a Laboring Man Has to Say on Organization
An editorial overview tracing labor organization from ancient times to modern unions, noting key groups and milestones from early bakers and shoemakers to Knights of Labor and the United States federation, and highlighting the perceived social and political impact of organizing labor. It cites dates 1861 to 1891, mentions the 1891 Cincinnati convention and the push to unite labor, while contrasting gains in hours and enlightenment with ongoing political and economic tensions. The piece ends with a Boston indictment in February against cattle feeding and distilling interests for Sherman Act violations.
