Fire destroyed the Russ slaughter house owned by Mrs. Z. Russ & Sons in Hurera California last night. Built in 1889 the property cost about 20000 dollars and a large quantity of smoked salt meat was lost. Insurance stood at 4000 dollars with total losses estimated between 50000 and 60000 dollars.
In Cincinnati Governor Campbell of Ohio stated en route to St Paul that he would not accept a vice presidential nomination if offered. He added he is not a presidential candidate but would not refuse a nomination if tendered. In San Francisco 17 failures were reported by Bradstreet for the Pacific coast week.
London reports the Forest Queen sank after collision with the Loughbraid off Flamborough. Fourteen passengers died in the incident yesterday, with rescuers seeking survivors and assessing damage.

He praised the map’s effort but warned Camp’s designs imitate Col Waring and proved unsatisfactory in practice due to pipe smallness and limited statistics. Miller suggested three districts and eight inch pipes, offered a written opinion if requested.

Construction to start soon with ninety day deadline.
