Upholsterer dies after street fight in San Francisco
Alfred Sparke a local upholsterer was kicked and beaten by William Flaws a cook employed by John Fisher a Third Street restaurant keeper. Sparke died twelve minutes after the assault and Flaws was arrested charged with murder following a quarrel over dice while both men were intoxicated.

A bold train robbery near Glendale station ten miles from St Louis last night netted about 20 000 to 50 000 in cash valuables.
