Sunday Schools Meet in McDowell County Convention

Announcement of the McDowell County Sunday School Convention for all denominations. Held at the Baptist Church in Old Fort all day Wednesday July 23 under the County and North Carolina Sunday School Associations. Officers include A. V. Nolan Marion president and Miss Maggie Taylor Nebo secretary. Outside speaker Flora Davis Raleigh general superintendent NCSSA. Attendance expected to be large with many county workers participating. Also notes on club meeting and Baraca class visits with Marion and Old Fort members.

Miss Nannie Sue Sandlin hosted a Thursday evening event for Miss Louise Preas of Johnson City Tennessee. About twenty five guests attended. The night featured contests with prizes awarded and enjoyable games followed by refreshments.

Old Fort Edges East Marion In County Baseball Clash

Old Fort baseball beat East Marion 10 to 6 on Old Fort grounds June 4. Superb pitching by John Steppe and strong hitting carried the home club to the county win before a large crowd. Twelve Caldwell county farmers plan alfalfa planting this fall per county agent P. M. Hendricks.
