Commencement Exercises Close Old Fort High School Year
The Old Fort High School held its commencement in the school auditorium with 22 graduates receiving diplomas. Rev Blackwell of Mars Hill delivered the baccalaureate sermon while Edith R Grady led a musical recital and the play Daddy Long Legs showcased strong student dramatic ability.

Funeral services for W P Terrell longtime Old Fort citizen and Southern Railway engineer who helped build the towns First Baptist church were held at the Baptist church with Masonic lodge honors and a burial in Old Fort cemetery.

Barber Shops Consolidate At South Main And Main Street
The barber equipment from the South Main street shop near the depot moved to City Barber Shop on Main street which is enlarged to house extra barbers and customers. Zeb L. Lackey assures patrons of the same prompt service at the Main street location. Mrs. LeFevre hosted the Needlecraft Club with attendees including Mrs. Fisher Smithey Ledbetter Marley Caplan Nichols Silvers Hogan Ricks and Edith Nichols of Marion. Refreshments were provided by the hostess and Edith LeFevre.

Mrs Mary White of Asheville visited her sister Mrs Geo Hyams in Old Fort Wednesday. Several locals vacationed in Asheville, Statesville and Murphy. Students from Asheville Normal, Mitchell College and LaGrange College returned home for summer.
