Alligator Attack Rescued by Father Near Biloxi Bay

In Biloxi Bay four miles east of town, a seven year old and her infant sister were attacked by a large alligator while bathing. The father Elam R. Blackwell leaped in, grabbed the elder girl, and saved the child from the creature. The infant suffered only minor foot bruises. Handsboro Democrat reports the event.

Flood Night Survival Near Grand Falls In Missouri

A Missouri flood near Joplin drove Mr. and Mrs. Hartmann and a student to the roof as Shoal Creek rose rapidly. Their boat washed away, they clung to a log and tree limbs until rescue by a skiff party arrived, saving the Hartmanns after the log and house were swept away, with the professor sustaining multiple injuries.
