Mrs. Theresa Gosse 65 died May 18 at her home northeast of Oelwein. A 50 year resident, she was born Feb 3 1883 to Valentine and Alma Loeb. Survived by seven sons Walter Waterloo August Waterloo Edward Waterloo William Dunkerton Alfred Hazieton Frank Louis Oelwein and three daughters Mrs. Oscar Fink Westgate Mrs. Kenneth Nirebeck Waterloo and Mrs. Arthur Dohse Oelwein. also four stepsons, one stepdaughter, a sister, a brother, two half sisters and three half brothers. Preceded in death by husband Charles Gosse two infants and Herman in WWII. Funeral services tentatively set for Friday May 21 at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Rev H E Dieter. Burial Woodlawn Cemetery.

5 500 Poppies Received Here
Oelkeins American Legion Auxiliary unit has received 5,500 poppies for distribution here. Poppy day is Saturday, May 29, according to Mrs. AL Porter, poppy chairman. Poppies were made in Des Moines and Marshalltown hospitals under Iowa department of the Auxiliary. Veterans of both World Wars are employed. Making the poppies benefits veterans as occupational therapy and income for families. More veterans are employed this year due to increased response.

Lamont Veteran’s Body to Arrive in Lamont
The body of Pfe. Donald R. Whitney, killed in southern France September 29, 1944, is expected within two weeks by his parents in Lamont. Born September 5, 1923, he was Lamont High School class of 1941 and worked at the DX station before enlisting in March. He trained at Camp Walters Texas and served in Africa and Italy before fighting in southern France with the 3rd Division. He survived by his parents and two sisters.
