Roy Reed of Waverly son of Mrs Jemntie Reed of Oelwein died in a plane crash one mile south of Waverly. Elmer Haily, 35, of Waverly also died. Reed operated a restaurant. Hahlweg, a local counter, and other details note relatives in Waterloo and Coggon. Funeral services set for Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Waverly Methodist Church. Burial in Waverly. An inquest into a separate light aircraft crash near Alta, Storm Lake area, was planned by Coroner John A Taylor.

Postville resident Lloyd Bruce announced his candidacy for state senator. He will face Arthur H. Jacobson in the Republican primary. Bruce, a feed salesman for a Mason City firm, previously ran his own mill and feed business in Postville until 1945. He was born in 1904 in Rolfe, Iowa, and has lived in Iowa his whole life. Mrs Clark's Brother Killed in Auto Accident

The House Armed Services Committee voted 28 to 19 to draft men for two years of military service. Fairbank Rites Wednesday For H C Phelps
Funeral services for H C Phelps, 80, will be held Wednesday at 2 p m at Fairbank Methodist church. The body will be taken to O'Keefe and Towne funeral home in Waterloo until Wednesday noon. Mr Phelps died Saturday at a private home for the elderly in Oelwein. Born in New York state he moved to Fairbank as a young man and was affiliated with a local bank. Survivors include two sons Dale of Oelwein and HOG Phelps of Muscatine and a brother Frederick G Phelps of New York City.

Funeral set for Patrick William Toomey in Wadena
Special from Wadena. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at St. Josephs church for Patrick William Toomey 75 who died Sunday evening at his home in Wadena. He was born October 1, 1906 and moved to Wadena at age 21. He married Hannah Baldwin and they had one son who died in childbirth along with his wife. Three sisters Margaret Anna and Mrs John Corkery preceded him in death.

AURORA family mourns as John and Nellie Watson die in a two-vehicle crash on highway 20 near Independence Saturday afternoon. Mrs Watson died instantly.
