Funeral services for Gunil Herbranson 87 will be held Tuesday afternoon at her Elkader home. She died Sunday morning after a stroke a week earlier. Rev. D J Stransjord will officiate with burial in Norway cemetery. Born on a Wagner township farm she later worked with a brother in business at Imwold and Preston Minnesota. She lived in Decorah, moved to Elkader seven years ago, and resided with sisters Emma and Johanna and niece Mrs Inga Glesne. A brother Thor died two years ago.

American GIs Shot in Vienna Incident Froze Patrol
A young American soldier Pfc. Jack Grunden 18 of Portland Oregon was knocked down and shot in the back by a Russian guard near Vienna while an Austrian girl accompanying him was forcibly taken by 40 bayoneted Russians.
