Expos sign Grimsley and Bonds to White Sox

Montreal Expos awarded Ross Grimsley a six year contract after a late night signing in Honolulu while the Chicago White Sox acquired Bobby Bonds from the Angels. The trades also included eight minor league picks at $25,000 each and additional deals involving Leon Roberts Jimmy Sexton Dave Rosello and players for eight teams. Expos GM Charley Fox predicted Grimsley will lift the club toward a higher finish in NL East standings.

Donkey basketball fundraiser and local girls basketball notes

The Oelwein Youth Organization sponsors a donkey basketball game this Sunday at Sacred Heart gym, featuring Mayor-elect Ben Levin among three teams. Proceeds go to the Oelwein Young Organization for gym expenses. advance tickets are $1.50 for adults, $1.25 for students, with higher gate prices.
