A jumble of notes reports Mrs Jown A Logan en route to Enurogie and a plan for a Garfichi statue in Garfield park. It mentions a Wichita real estate agent Fiore and various scattered items about elections, ships, weather, and inventions with no coherent central event.
In Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania on October 1 a paymaster and his bodyguard were slain on a narrow road near Miners Mills as they carried £25,000 for Italian contractors. The assassins fled into the wooded hills leaving two murdered men and a robbed bag of money.
A Baltimore and Ohio passenger train from Cincinnati derailed after striking an open switch near the Washington depot, plunging ten feet from a trestle. One killed, many injured, with several fatalities suspected among the victims including engineer James Noonan and others from Pittsburgh Glenwood Columbus Rochester and New York. A special train brought survivors to the city later today.
At the Aspen Mine a cave thirty feet high and seventy feet long exposes a seven foot thick ore bed on the wall with ore running to hundreds of ounces. A crevice spans the formation at the far end, depth unknown, as rocks fall for several seconds before silencing.
John Trischler a 30 year old nail feeder was crushed to death when crossing the B and C tracks in Wheeling crossing. A freight train had been cut in two and the two sections collided after being struck by the engine trapping him between bumpers.
Jacksonville Fea October bulletin shows 97 new cases and 4 deaths in the last day, bringing total cases to 3719 and total deaths to 526. Dr. Mitchell's update records ongoing daily counts for the city.

In Birmingham Alabama a five year old boy bitten four months ago by a ground rattlesnake shows a peculiar aftereffect. He crawls face down in yards imitates a snake when angered hisses and his facial veins swell with a greenish eye tint until he recovers.
In Chicago on October 21 a test of a new street railway motor by W H Patton of Pueblo Colorado used a gas engine that burns gasoline or oil to generate the gas for the next stroke. An eight horsepower engine powered friction wheels via a rope cable. The inventor claims potential speed of 15 miles per hour with a daily cost under one dollar and notes the device is smoke free and quiet.
In New York on February 21 the Fox Sisters Kate Fox and Margaretta Fox Kane appeared before a large audience to expose spiritualism as fraud. Kane lectured in a faltering voice while producing the rappings via her toe joint, saying she thanks God for the exposure.
