Hudson Man Under Trial For Murder In Daviess Circuit Court
Berry Hudson of South Washington stood trial in the Daviess circuit court Monday for the killing of Wm M. Gilkey of Washington. The homicide occurred April 16 after an altercation at Moose Hall during a meeting of the Miner’s Nation Wes in session. Hudson fired from five or six feet, the bullet entering Gilkey’s right eye and exiting toward the back of the head. Gilkey died about three hours later at Deverssonmeter hospital. Hudson, nabbed soon after, faces indictment for first degree crime in a case closely watched by local residents. Gilkey, 42, was a father of a son and daughter and a veteran constable.

John Wesley Riggins Dies in Eaglesville
John Wesley Riggins of Van Buren township died at his home in Eaglesville on Friday September 7 after a paralytic stroke a week earlier. Born October 28 1955 he was 67. He married Evelyn Hackler on November 14 1880 and six children were born. survivors include Sam Riggins Mrs Logan Dant and Mrs Homer Myers. Funeral Sunday at 1 30 pm at the Eaglesville M E Church with Rev. E F Shake officiating and burial in Raglesville cemetery.
