Jefferson Farren, a farmer near this city, was beaten bound and robbed of $800 by three men who pretended to ask directions to Elnora. The Ford car fled toward town, leaving a fresh tire track. Neighbors pursued, aided by Marshall Raney of Enora, as the banked cash and assault were investigated.
Last Sunday marked the 24th birthday anniversary of Mrs. Leauion Statle and Mrs. Russell Sims. A large gathering at Mrs. Sims home enjoyed a noon dinner and an afternoon of music and social visiting before guests wished the honorees many more happy anniversaries.
A Bechtel families reunion at W. H. Bechtel's north of the city drew about forty attendees last Thursday. The event featured a big picnic dinner and was described as a most enjoyable day.
The 94th annual United Brethren session ended in Dale Indiana. Rev J W Settle named solicitor for the centennial church extension fund with duties in Indiana. Rev W H Lutes chosen conference superintendent. council includes ministers and laymen. Минisters listed with assignments across towns and counties.
RAGLESVILLE reports a string of weekend visits and relocations with residents from Grifith Liberty and Elnora listed among those visiting W H Clark Mary Zigler and James Stuffle. The note closes noting a tomato crate shortage affecting local growers and a move to Odon.

The Farmers Federation finished a lime house near the railroad south of the stock yards with a concrete floor for storage and a wood floor end for phosphate. Mrs. W. B. Neeklemer and son Harold stay with Mitchell grandparents while Mrs. Hewitt and two grandchildren with Miss Ruth Hewitt visit Evansville. Chautauqua earned strong local support. 500 tickets sold in 20 minutes and plans for next season include $200 tickets with no tax and full equipment. The Mikado drew the week’s largest crowd and Davies Light Opera Co produced it. officers for next season include D. W. Hayes president and Nimrod Slaven treasurer.
Community notes record seed wheat for sale at 21 1-8 Cc and a string of greetings and visits. Births include a son born to Mr and Mrs J Finley Cooper on Sunday August 27. Several residents travel to Indianapolis Terre Haute and Bloomington for business or visiting relatives.
Odon closes its seventh Chautauqua after a five day run ending with The Mikado. Attendance stayed steady compared with earlier years and many praised the high quality of programs. Guy Detrick, returning for the third time, received a warm ovation. The Junior Pageant directed by Miss Dodge highlighted Wednesday afternoon, with fine student performances. The event traveled from Shoals and Dugger, concluding its season at Ohop.
