Henry Clay Clinton known as Major Clinton died at his home four miles southwest of the city from heart trouble. Born in Daviess county in 1844 he was 69. Survived by wife Martha Flinn and eleven children J M Clinton Charles Maude Walter Flora Cora Monts Stella Daugherty Sarah Daugherty. funeral Saturday at home with Rev Flora. Burial at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Carmania Arrives With Volturno Survivors
The steamer Carmania reached New York carrying forty six Volturno survivors among cheerful reunions. Among them Mrs. Broudie Grossman and three children learned their husband and other child survived. In sorrow, Mr and Mrs Subschien hoped their two sons aboard La Touraine are alive but will be told otherwise at port. A Roumanian mother, Flora Budgeon, clung to her baby Verona who was found safe on La Touraine, though she believed her infant daughter had drowned.

Electric lights puzzle wild geese over town
A large flock of wild geese passed over town late Wednesday evening drawn by electric lights. They circled the area for hours, the flock separated into several groups, and the birds continued to honk while attempting to reassemble. The last sightings were about 2:30 in the morning.
