Wesley Brown Dies After Cancer Battle in Local Community

Wesley Brown aged over 60, lifelong resident of the area, died last Saturday from complications of diseases led by cancer. He was born in McCameron township, Martin County, and married to Mamie Fel. survived by three daughters Norse, Bessie Mattingy, Bertha Practer, and Pearl Neianporce, plus a stepson. Funeral at Copcard Church Monday at 10 a.m. with Rev ROR.

Oden Racing Association Announces Second Meet

The Oden Racing Association authorized a second meet for October 22 with two races one trot and one run. Officials expect a large crowd and enhanced track conditions after improvements. Purses will be reduced from the first meet, and new horses are anticipated to compete.

Mrs James Saul Dies in Local Home

Mrs Casher Ann Saul wife of David Saul dies at home southwest of the city after a lengthy illness. Born in the county on May 1 she married Saul in SSG and had five surviving children Maude Mell Mary Weaver James William and Strausse. Burial at Walnut Hill. Lon Haughey attends women missionary meeting in Peru. Alonzo Curtiel and Anna daverstock wed last Tuesday with a reception at the undermilk home.

Foster Vernon Copeland dies of diphtheria at six

The six year old son of Mr and Mrs Ghas Copeland died Tuesday afternoon from diphtheria after a brief illness. The burial took place at Walnut Hill Wednesday morning. Nearby visitors include Zach and Mrs Big Crookes and Mrs Frank C Arnold of Seattle.

Christian Endeavor Rally Draws Strong Local Attendance

The Interdenominational C E Rally at the Odon Christian Church drew 161 attendees from Plainville Town Elnora Rag esville and nearby churches. Four pastors attended and declared support, with hopes for a county organization and more future gatherings.

Indiana crops improve over prior expectations

October crop outlook shows corn near 80 percent normal with better general conditions. Wheat remaining on farms about 7.25 million bushels, seed use near three million. Oats yield records low at 24 bushels per acre. potatoes 10 percent normal. sweet potatoes 83 percent normal. apples about 20 percent normal. Clover and alfalfa around 60 percent. pastures good. Tomatoes under last year’s acres and 51 percent normal production. Frosts mild, most crops advanced enough to avoid damage.

Knights of Pythias Lodge Meeting Draws Wide Attendance

The Whit of Ps of Daviess county held a county meeting with Udon Lodge No 272 on Monday evening October 10. About 200 Knights attended including Col. Smith Horn from the 8th regiment and riders from Ohio and several counties. Roscor Myers led a 16 member drill team in new uniforms followed by a business session and late refreshments as attendees departed around midnight.
