Former Daviess County Auditor Involved in Investigations

State Board of Accounts certified two reports against Thomas Nugent, former Daviess County auditor, covering 1903 and 1911 terms. Total charges amount to about 389049 dollars with alleged school fund manipulations and unaccounted receipts. Reports name numerous specific discrepancies and include affidavits from school fund borrowers. Governor Marshall forwarded the findings to the attorney general for court action.

Trainor W Myers of Eaglesville attended Pleasant Grove church Sunday. Mr Queen and Bailey McConnel of Carlisle were guests of John Queen Monday en route to Martin county on business. McConnel recently bought land there. Ernest Clark and wife of Plainville Norval Bynum Murl and Mina Cunningham of Eaglesville Fred Bart Lewis and Mattie Graber and in Parsons were guests of Alex Clark.

Fox Hunters Meet at Rockwood Indiana

The Southern Indiana Fox Hunters Association met at Rockwood on Oct 25 with over 1300 attendees and a barbecue. About 150 top fox hounds were present but dry ground prevented trophy awarding. a silver cup offered by Roger Williams was the prize. Speakers included Rev Hatfield, Sen Inman, Oscar Bland, John Riddle, and Mr Hand. The next meeting place to be announced.

J A McCord Passes Away After Illness Near Alfordsville

Daviess county mourns prominent citizen Jabez A. McCord who died at his home near Alfordsville after a carbuncle on the wrist led to a long illness. A former sheriff of Daviess and five year Reeve township trustee, McCord was 64. Doctors urged arm amputation but his strength failed and death came after a period of extreme decline.
