Fish Fry Success by Leader Class Amid River Picnic

The M. E Sunday School Leader Class held its annual river fish fry last Wednesday despite weather grumbles. Eighty five pounds of fish were prepared and sixty four diners attended dinner with post meal swimming and games. The event, a highlight of summer, was followed by an all day picnic and fishing at Bunice McCallian's home.

Death of Will E Trueblood Prominent Local Teacher

Will E Trueblood, longtime teacher and respected community member, died at home from blood poisoning after a ten week illness starting from a skin rupture. He was born November 27 in Van Buren township and taught in local schools, leaving a widow Edna and three children, with two surviving. Funeral was held Wednesday at Center Methodist Church with burial in Bellcrest cemetery. Surviving relatives include siblings and in-laws in town and Washington state.

Memorial Sunday Memorial services led by G A R at Don Christian church

The G A R Post will preside over Memorial Sunday services at the Don Christian church on May 29 at 10:30 a.m. All veterans from Civil War to World War I are urged to join. Boy Scouts meet at G A R headquarters at 10 o'clock for a procession to the church. Band 10 Enjoy Outing as New Indiana School System Adopts

The Indiana state board adopts a three class high school system and extends it to elementary schools. Commissions will not be granted to condemned buildings and summer tutoring for credits faces state exams. The Southern Indiana Band plans a mid summer all day picnic near Odon with a concert and family turnout.

New Baker Farm Well Boosts Cannelburg Output

The Lawrence Petroleum Company struck oil at 625 feet on the Baker farm south of Cannelburg and shot the well with nitro at 11:30. Expected daily production is 10 to 15 barrels, marking the eleventh producing well in the Cannelburg field connected to a pipeline to Cannelburg.

Little Girl Aldia May Howard Dies in Od City

Aldia May Howard aged 13 died at her father Everett Howard’s home in east Od due to complications from illness after several weeks of suffering. Born July 21, 1907 in this city she was survived by two brothers Alva Owen Roy Jackson and a sister Zeda Vera and her mother who died about a year ago. Funeral services were held at Mt Olive on Wednesday at 4 00 with Rev Roberts presiding and the body laid beside her mother's in Mt Olive Cemetery.

Ava Ledgerwood to Wed Leroy Johnson in June
